"We have decided that Instead of going with the flow, we are going to be the flow. Instead of demanding the change, we are going to be the change. We are the ones we have been waiting for." The late Dakalo Mulima.

 HEAD OF MENTORSHIP | HM

CATE NKALITSHANA

Cate is currently studying towards a BSc in Biological Sciences at the University of The Witwatersrand and her interests lie in Conservational biology. She believes in servant leadership. She also tutors with Skillup for high school learners and mentors several students at Wits. Cate believes that connections and growth do not happen in one’s comfort zone, we have to go out there and expose ourselves if we want our names to be remembered long after we pass.

Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.” - John C. Crosby.

This is a programme implemented at university level for Juniors and first years coming from FBA partner schools across South Africa. The programme is designed to allow mentees (first years) from FBA partner schools, and future partner schools to have a smooth, safe and simple transition from high school to university. The strong system of mentorship allow the senior students (Mentors) to guide the mentees by sharing their experiences, study materials, and strategies to enable the mentees to progress at varsity. The mentors are senior students who may or not be in the same field of study. The mentors through the mentorship also offer moral and academic support during the mentees transition from high school to tertiary.
