Tutoring programme

Paulina Ngubeni is a tourism development Masters student at the University of Johannesburg. In 2014 she was awarded a scholarship to study at Duale Hochschule Baden- Württemberg for a semester, there she completed a course which consisted of a range of modules such as Mediation in a global village, Business management, The German language and others. She volunteers as a student assistant and mentor at the Division of Internationalisation by assisting exchange students from different countries. Paulina is passionate about the empowerment of girls and woman and this is seen in her involvement in different campaigns at her university which raise awareness on gender-based violence. One of her future aspirations is to open an NPO which will assist young teenage mothers who dropped out of school to further their studies in her community.

Tutoring programme is implemented at school level, in FBA partner schools during the school holidays; it is operated by FBA volunteers who are now at university. The programme is tailored to assist the learners to excel academically so that they can access funding opportunities as well as post-school opportunities.
